The PLOT:

A man is released from prison after serving four years for murdering an elderly woman. He quickly begins to feel the compulsion to kill again. After failing to murder a cab driver, he flees and discovers a secluded rural home, where a young woman lives with her sick mother and retarded brother. He then begins to take out his sadistic pleasures on them, attempting to hold them hostage, while thinking of his troubled childhood with his abusive mother and grandmother...

" (...) Kargl's genius here is to show everything in real time, with numerous close-ups and diegetic sound. Viewers get to experience none of the pleasure (whether guilty or gleefully acknowledged) that comes from watching stylized, aestheticized killing—replete with slow-motion camerawork, overlapping edits and a meticulously composed mise-en-scene. Instead, writer-cinematographer Zbigniew Rybczynski alternates close-up point-of-view shots of the victim and her attacker and some canted overhead shots besides, constantly altering our relationship to the action."

What makes Angst so interesting, even important—and what those viewers hoping for the Austrian equivalent of Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal are bound to miss—is the fact that the film's numerous "failures" are precisely what constitutes its success. Not only the failures of the killer, whose grand scheme amounts to nothing more than three chaotic and wholly undignified murders. So too the failures of the director, who satisfies none of the genre's conventions, and who eschews the popular tradition of romanticizing the serial killer, of turning him into a sort of neo-Gothic anti-hero.

"As noted earlier, ANGST’s dramatic structure is reduced to only a very small amount of narration: we are simply shown the killer’s murder spree on his one and only day of freedom. What might cause some empathy with this dangerous character—his own first-person-narration—in fact functions to alienate the viewer even more. This because the voice-overs simply double on the verbal level the monstrous incidents shown to us in all their graphic horror. Through the use of this technique, the film creates a distance between audience and protagonist that never really subsides. The murder sequences may be visually shocking, but they are also deeply reflective. Kargl avoids providing any type of entertainment, conventional thrill, or suspense. In fact Kargl and Rybczynski seem to believe that entertainment through stalk’n’slash splatter films is a sign of cynicism and should be avoided. "In a sea of power electronic bands lacking any character, Country Club’s “The Pigs Unscathed” does not disappoint. The vocal style could be compared to some Con-Dom vocals, Brethren or perhaps vocals from Institut’s “The Struggle Never Ended.” Musically, The Grey Wolves could be a comparison, but Country Club sounds less muddy. The group has a unique take on sound and arrangement with shorter tracks that make for a diverse listening experience. BOY DIRT CAR

Real Names: Dan Kubinski, Darren Brown, Eric Lunde, Keith Brammer
Profile: BDC were formed by Darren Brown and Eric Lunde in 1981 after the two young punkers met Glenn Branca at a Chicago noise-music festival. Gathering a few friends together for jams, they proceeded to play with a revolving-door line-up that usually consisted of Brown, Lunde and any drunken and/or drug-addled buddy they could string along. Finally settling on a semi-stable line-up that consisted of the duo and Keith Brammer and Dan Kubinski of Die Kreuzen on various metal percussive instruments and noise-making devices, BDC found their feet and were soon hailed by well-meaning folks as America's answer to Einstürzende Neubauten. Inactive as a band for many years, Eric Lunde in the meantime released some solo records and Darren Brown formed Impact Test.

I looked for the "winter" lp but couldn't find it online. i still don't know how to rip records to computer to i guess you will have to deal with their side of the F/i split LP.

it's tuesday the 17th and i pick matthew lyons from the hell style airport. the jetblue nyc flight delivers 1,000 disgusting freaks and i am shocked at all the floppy cowboy hats and unshaved baby faces that appear outside the port.

i pick up matt and we then pick up duncan at 11ish. less humans exist.

we all pick up our pointless wristbands and proceed to "miss beas" where we play a horrible show at like 5pm to about 11 humans. the set is weird and off. we quickly leave and go eat at thai kitchen. i bow to too many waiters and we show up to the "new guild" hippie commune to play a house show.

i awake early and pick up homefreak jeff witscher. i had never met this guy before but upon scooping him he turned out to be one of the nicest freaks i have ever met. good dude. we crawl back to the crib and so begins my day of nothing but hell stress.

a day full of trying to grab the worst drum kitss and spending 60 dollars on weird drum kit extras. duncan and s.e. will buy a schlotskeez sandwitch and then we gett to 1808 just as everyone starts to freak and cry tears of pure rage.

white dog plays an d i am beyond happy with the outcome. no one likes it because we are trying too hard to be weird and i can't play inept noise drums all that well.

Philip Chawner, 53, and his 57-year-old wife Audrey weigh 300 pounds. Their daughter Emma, 19, weighs 240 pounds, while her older sister Samantha, 21, weighs 288 pounds.

The family from Blackburn claim £22,508 a year in benefits, equivalent to the take-home pay from a £30,000 salary.

The Chawners, haven't worked in 11 years, claim their weight is a hereditary condition and the money they receive is insufficient to live on.

"All that healthy food, like fruit and veg, is too expensive. We're fat because it's in our genes. Our whole family is overweight," she added.

Each week, Mr and Mrs Chawner, who have been married for 23 years, receive £177 in income support and incapacity benefit. Mrs Chawner is paid an extra £330-a-month disability allowance for epilepsy and asthma, both a result of being overweight.

Mr Chawner gets £71 a month after developing Type 2 diabetes because of his size. He was on a waiting list for a gastric band last year, but a heart condition made the operation unsuitable. Anti-retroviral drugs used to treat HIV/Aids are being bought and smoked by teenagers in South Africa to get high.
Reports suggest that the drugs are being sold by patients and even healthcare staff for money.
Schoolchildren have been spotted smoking the drugs, which are ground into powder and sometimes mixed with painkillers or marijuana.
Aids patients themselves have been found smoking the drugs instead of taking them as prescribed.
Anti-retrovirals are used to boost the immune system of people with HIV and to suppress the virus in the blood.
"I couldn't believe it. I was shocked at first, these were school boys in their school uniforms," documentary-maker Tooli Nhlapo told the BBC World Service's Outlook programme.
"They take a pill and grind it, until it is a powder. Some also mix it with painkillers and others mix it with marijuana," said Ms Nhlapo. "They showed me how they roll it and smoke it."
Hallucinogenic
When the South African Broadcasting Corporation documentary-maker first investigated the story, she was told to wait until school finished, so she could actually see how young some of the users were.

"I thought I was going to go to a tavern and see older drug addicts doing this, but I was shocked when I saw school children," she said.
"One who spoke to me very frankly was only 15 and the oldest person I spoke to was 21, but it's mainly youngsters, teenagers."
Smoking the pills has a hallucinogenic and relaxing effect.
"When I asked them why they like doing it, they said it helps them relax and forget about their problems," said Ms Nhlapo.
"When you look at them, just a few seconds after taking it, they are in another world," she added.
The children do not know where they are and they stop making sense.
The young users that Ms Nhlapo spoke to get access to these drugs from HIV patients or healthcare workers.
They know when the individual patients go to collect the drugs and buy them, or if they do not have any money, they steal them.

"When I was doing the story, many HIV patients were complaining that they don't get the drugs and that queues are long and it was taking a long time to access them," said Ms Nhlapo.
Widespread problem
Dr Kas Kasongo, who advises on an anti-retroviral drugs panel in South Africa, feels that there needs to be some measure of accountability or a system to be able to track the usage of drugs.
"We need pharmacists and good administrators but again it is a social problem," he said.
"I don't think our role as doctors should be to just dish out drugs. We have to make sure that these drugs are taken as recommended."
When Ms Nhlapo first came across this new drug phenomenon, she thought it was just happening in one area, among a small group of people.
"I went back to the township and then I discovered that it was something that was known in the entire township," she said.
It had now become a national problem in South Africa, she added.
Dr Kasongo continued: "Not taking the optimum dose as recommended will not suppress the virus and the CD4 count will be destroyed massively and that's what we are trying to prevent by giving anti-retroviral medication."
Side-effects
Most anti-retroviral drugs can be given to both children and adults, Dr Kasongo said. But there was one exception.
"There is one that is being abused that should only be used above the age of three or four years," he added.
"Remember we are giving anti-retroviral drugs to those infected with HIV, who will eventually develop Aids.
"So, people who are healthy, that are taking this medication are exposing themselves to potential side-effects of these drugs," he added.

No matter how high they are, they do not tell you who is giving them the drugs
HIV patients are exposing themselves to huge risks by not taking the prescribed drugs as they should, he warned.
"We don't have more than 20 anti-retroviral drugs on the market and remember, they have to be used in a cocktail of at least three or four," said Dr Kasongo.
"Therefore, abusing a particular drug, whichever it is, is a concern because it can give rise to resistance to drugs within that same group," he added.
Dr Kasongo stressed that it will take a huge team effort, involving the government, social workers and education authorities to combat the problem.
"It is well organised, no matter how high they are, they do not tell you who is giving them the drugs," said Ms Nhlapo.

"Christopher B and Robyn F have been involved in a dating relations for approx 1 and half year. On Sunday Feb 8 at 25 hours Brown was driving a vehicle with Robyn F as the front passenger on an unknown street in Los Angeles. Robin F picked brown,s cellular phone and picked up a three-page text message from a woman Brown had had a previous relationship with.

"A verbal argument ensued and Brown pulled a vehicle over in an unknown street. Reach over Robyn F with his right hand and open the car door and attempted to force her out. Brown was unable to force Robyn F out of the vehicle because she was wearing a seat belt. When he could not force her to exit he took his right hand and shoved her head against the passenger window of the vehcile causing an approx 1 inch raised circular contusion.

"Robyn F turned to face Brown and punched her in the left eye with right hand. He then drove away in the vehicle and continued to punch her in the face with his right hand while steering the vehicle with his left hand. The assault caused Robyn F Osmouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle. Brown looked at Robyn F and stated "I am going to beat the s–t out of you when we get home! You wait and see!?

"Robyn F picked her cellular phone and called her personal assistant Jennifer Rosales. Rosales did not answer the telephone but while her vm greeting was playing Robyn F pretended to talk to her and stated "I am on my way home. Make sure the cops are there when I get there? (this statement was made while greeting was playing and was not captured) after Robyn f faked the call, Brown and looked at her and stated, 'You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now I really am going to kill you.'

"Brown resumed punching Robyn F and she interlocked her fingers behind her head and brought her elbows forward to protect her face. She then bent over at the waist placing her elbows and face near her lap and in attempt to protect her face and head from the barrage of punches being levied by Brown. Brown continued to punch Robyn F on her left arm and hands, causing her to suffer a contusion on her left triceps that was approx 2 inches in diameter and numerous contusions on her left hand. Robyn f attempted to send another text message to other personal assistant Melissa Ford. Brown snatched the cellular telephone out of her hand and threw it out of the window to an unknown street. Brown continued driving and Robyn F observed his cellular phone in his lap. She picked up the cellular phone with her left hand, and before she could make a call, he placed her in a head lock with right hand and continued to drive the vehicle with his left hand.

"Brown held Robyn F close to him and bit her on her left hear. She was able to feel the vehicle swerving from right to left as Brown sped away. He stopped the vehicle in front of [address] and Robyn F turned off the car removed the key from inignition and sat on it. Brown did not know what she did with the key and began punching her in the face and arms. Brown began applying pressure to Robyn F left and right carotid arteries causing her to be unable to breath. She began to lose consciousness. She reached up with her left hand and began to attempting to gauge his eyes in attempt to flee herself. Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers and released her. While brown continued to punch her she turned around a place her back to against the passenger door. She brought her knees to her chest and placed her feet against Brown,s body and began pushing him away.

"Brown continued to punch her on legs and feet causing several contusions. Robyn F began screaming for help. And Brown exited the vehicle and walked away. A resident in the neighbor heard Robyn F,s plea for help and called 911, causing a police response. An investigation was conducted and Robyn F was issued a domestic violence protective order (EPO). Affiant conducted an interview with Melissa Ford who advised on Feb. 8 2009 at 2500 hours she received a phone call from Robin F from an unknown telephone number later identified as the telephone number of Officer Chavez. Robin F had advised Ford that she had been assaulted by Brown. At approx at 1 am Brown called Ford as nothing happened. Ford advised Brown that she had already talked to Robin F and was aware of what happened. Ford had advised brown that the neighbors had called police and that they were with Robyn F. Brown had asked Ford if robin F had provided police with his name. And ford advised him that she had. Brown hung up the telephone and did not call back.

"On Feb. 8, Brown turned himself in and was given a copy of the EPO and advised to not contact Robyn.

"On Feb. 17 Ford advised the affiant that she had received text messages from … a number that Ford recognized as belonging to Brown. In the text message Brown apologized for what he had done to Robin F. and advised Ford he was going to get help."

"FHF: Good. Let's start with the ladies. Why are some so attracted to you? Bernadette Brazal, not bad - pretty cute.

RR: I think the girls are attracted to me because they can relate to me. The girls are nice when you're in my situation, but since I'm in here I spend more time writing to them about the relationship, rather than living it, but there are good friendships formed never-the-less. A couple of them are religious, they come into my life to try and help me.

FHF: Can you be saved? By God and the Jesus kid?

RR: No, I'm pretty set in my ways. I doubt anything short of a miracle would change me. I do have an open mind, and I listen to them.

FHF: Were you brought up religiously?

RR: Very. My mother and father used to take me to church in Mexico and Texas, wer I used to live. The huge figures of saints and crucifixions. Religion played a big role in my life.

FHF: You think it captured your imagination?

RR: More than that, I saw myself inside it. It became a part of everyday life. How I thought. How I felt. Later on, by my teenage years, it was all in conflict with me, and still is. You understand? Bad and good and everything I had learned about Satan and God.

FHF: Did you believe God was watching?

RR: Yeah.

FHF: Most teenagers feel these delusions.

RR: All the actions in my life, at that time, I looked at them and tried to fathom how God would judge them.

FHF: So how'd you make out?

RR: Ugh, in my teens, it wasn't going too good. When I got to about 17, that really caused some problems with me. I started resorting to a life my mother didn't care for. At 17 she kicked me out, so it was a pretty hard life. I stole cars, I picked pockets. Stuff like that.

FHF: What happened at home that put you into that?

RR: I went off to reform school. I came back, she kicked me out. I fended for myself by selling drugs and stuff. Then I moved to California.

FHF: Is that where you got hooked up into devil worship?

RR: No, I started feeling like that before. I believe in Satan. I believe evil is a force that is beyond us, and that we just have to invite him in, and he will.

FHF: When did you actively start to bring the devil into your life, worship-wise?

RR: It was about 1980, and I was hustling on the streets. I landed in jail for a month or two for oetty theft. I met up with this guy who was a Satan worshiper. For those two months I was with him, then I get out of jail, but my mind didn't. I remembered everything he said, which basically was, "Why worship the good guy, when the things you do aren't so good?" Somehow it just made sense to me, to worship something that would protect you in what you were doing.

FHF: How did your worship take form?

RR: It developed slowly. I started reading the books, and then I started meeting people who were into the same thing. Satanists need to have more faith than Christians, because Christ was seen and felt. Lucifer has never felt the need to be seen, but in everyone's soul he can be felt. A lot of these little cults practice Satanism nowadays, but not in a violent form. They're only looking for ways to play out wickedness.

FHF: Ever tried your hand at a Black Mass?

RR: Only one, but kept my distance. I was not part of that group. It was at a cemetery and it was at night. I really couldn't tell what we were doing. A friend and me were watching from a distance. I never trusted people anyway. Especially them.

FHF: Why?

RR: They knew me and my lifestyle. They were the ones who made the connection and told the police for being a candidate for the Night Stalker crimes.

FHF: What are some of the things you are accused of?

RR: I've been accused of almost every crime you can imagine.

FHF: At your trial, you went all L.A. on us. Dark shades, slick hair, attitude. Did you enjoy the attention?

RR: Going to the trial was very tiring for me, but I did enjoy it better than sitting in a jail cell. That could be very monotonous. The glasses, believe it or not, were prescription lenses that were tinted. And I just don't like my photograph being taken, more so now than then. Did I enjoy it? Hmm. No, not particularly. I would have rather been on the beach or something.

FHF: Your entire attitude during the trial was like, "Fuck the world!"

RR: I was receiving so much negative publicity. I wasn't going to give people the satisfaction of seeing me down. Besides, I didn't feel down. Plus, the image I had projected was beyond me. The nedia had portrayed me as a cold-hearted, ruthless monster, but I'm really not that way. I'm very down to earth. So, at that time I let people think whatever they wanted to. Tou see or hear about the crimes and then imagine what kind of individual was behind them.

FHF: The judge said your crimes were committed with "cruelty, callousness and viciousness beyond any human understanding."

RR: It is in no way beyond understanding. Mankind has been like that through out history. In today's society, people use those qualities - I call them qualities - for all things. It is for self-gratification. It is for sex. It is for excitment. This kind of fervor servers it's own purpose. It doesn't obey rules. It runs amok. You see it on the news everyday, but society cannot hang it's moral and ethical values on me to survive. i do what I must in all ways, and I'm proud of it. The necessity to be myself passes all moral barriers.

FHF: Have you been reading a lot?

RR: Yes, I read. A book I suggest to everybody is called, "Mysterious Stranger" by Mark Twain. It's about Satan and his visit here. A good book. I read suspense and horror, somethings that intrigue me. I have always been fascinated by death.

FHF: Is death sexual?

RR: Sexual? It can be. Next to self-preservation, the sex drive is the most important and powerful behavior in mankind.

FHF: When did you first start to think about death?

RR: When I was 11, I had an episode in my life. I saw my cousin shoot his wife. It wasn't traumatic... but the shock value. I went back into the apartment to collect some things with my dad, because my cousin was in jail. The bed was all bloody. It was there where she had landed after the bullet. She got a .38 to the face. At the same time it was very... uh. The stillness of the room, the eerieness, you know. We had to open the windows to ventilate the room and it was something. It was... (long pause) ...it was death! I had known the woman. I had known her very well. I went into the living room and saw her purse. I looked through her purse, saw her ID cards and her things. It was a strange feeling. That was the first time I ever ran across death. Ever since, I was intrigued.

FHF: What is blood to you?

RR: Blood is the substance that allows any living thing to exist, but blood is blood. I have heard of people drinking each other's blood. They cut each other, and they drink it and it's supposed to be a euphoric feeling. But, you know, blood has no special interest for me. Blood is blood.

FHF: Do you believe that when you kill someone, you can obtain that person's power?

RR: That dates back to the Incas and Mayans, they believed in that. It is a possiblity, but to me personally? I've had no experience with it.

FHF: Let me read to you a statement you made at your trial, "I am beyond your experience. I am beyond good and evil. Legions of the night, nightbeed... repeat not the errors of the night prowler, and show no mercy. I will be avenged. Lucifer dwells in us all. That's it." What were the night prowler's errors?

RR: I was under a lot of stress then. What I recall and if my memory serves me correct, I just meant not to believe in the system. Don't, for a minute, think you'll get a fair shake when under these circumstances.

FHF: Yeah, but were there errors?

RR: I was not aware of my actions. Everyone must find out who they are and be aware of their actions before they wind up in a vicious predicament.

FHF: Who are the "legions of the night"?

RR: People like yourself. People who thrive on the night. People who have true moral sense. You know who I'm talking about and talking to. They are the ones who feel they are not the majority. They have different feelings and attitudes about life. The rest are a bulk of cattle. Everyone plays a role and no one says what's truly on their mind.

FHF: When you were sentenced to the gas chamber, you said, "Big deal. Death always comes with the territory." What territory?

RR: I lived a dangerous life. Stealing cars, I could have been shot. Robbing people, I could have been killed. Nothing in existence holds any terror for me. When I was sentenced to death, it didn't hold anything for me.

FHF: What about now?

RR: Even less.

FHF: Does the Night Stalker deserve the gas chamber?

RR: It's all a bloodlust. When the state comes to execute a man, they laugh. So do I.

FHF: Do you still feel beyond good and evil?

RR: Everybody has got good and evil in them. I'd like to be 100% evil, but I can't. I'm too easy-going sometimes. Then again, while anger and hate are two things some people can cope with, I cannot. My anger and hate grow to a level that I cannot live comfortably with it. it causes me headaches and stuff. When I get angry, it's an extreme form. It is the extreme. There is no inbetween. But there is with good and evil, and I am there.

FHF: What's your favorite magazine?

RR: I don't know. I like alot of 'em. I especially like Hustler, but not for the reason most think. It's hard to get a copy in here, but I like it for the parody section. life's ajoke, and I enjoy when they make fun of something that everyone takes so fucking seriously. Freddie Mercury said, "In the end, we all die, and nothing really matters." Now I'm sure you're going to disagree with me because you'll get a bunch of these letters telling you that you are evil.

FHF: Trust me, I get tons already. with some of the articles I put in this rag, people send me tons.

RR: Seriously? What do you write about?

FHF: A sort of social Darwinist philosophy, but much more violent - killing off the weak, and shit like that.

RR: (starts tolaugh) Well alright! Cool. Listen, people are intrigued by that. I'm telling you. They'll say, "No." to you, but feel "Yes," in their hearts. They think it's wrong because they feel everyone wants them to say it is. You'll send me some, right?

FHF: I'll try. When I send them to prisoners, they send them back saying this material will not be allowed in incarceration facilities. So, tell me, how will you be avenged?

RR: I'm one angry motherfucker. I just hope all those who are deserving will get what's coming to them. I'll just leave it at that.

FHF: My philosophy is that most people get what 's coming to them. People really get what they deserve. Are you confident that people will get what's coming to them?

fuck you bitch. members of the tour are charlie willhoit, dustin pilkington, ryan foster, matt lyons, rusty kelley and mikaylah bowman. we leave new york and follow the gps at all times. the gps leads us into the worst traffic i have ever experienced in my entire fucking life. i think traveled 2.5 miles in about 3 hours. no joke. i started to go nuts but started to calm down slightly.
we got to new haven connecticut and played a house show in a house that smelled like true body odor. certain beings inside the house were selling diy anarchist gardening faq zines as well as 25 similar booklets. the beings were the ones smelling this house up.

we played and it was supposedly our best. i don't remember.
